Part of a series of videos exposing the funny stupidity of creationists and why they deserve to be laughed at. In each case the creationist statements are shown to be outrageously stupid by even the most rudimentary knowledge of science.

In this episode a creationist animation is taken to task, where they claim ‘proof’ evolution is a flawed theory. It turns out to be comically poorly thought through, even for creationist ‘proofs’. They claim the moon is receding 3in per yr, twice as fast as it currently is, they then ume this recession for 4bn yrs and get the moon should have receding 1200 bn inches. Yup they multiply 4×3 and get 1200.
Now these are actually fairly wide error bars, and this is explored in a humorous fashion in what else creationists could ‘prove’ with their factor of 200 error.

  6. Chieron26 Says:

    actually, the use …
actually, the use of the long scale (billion=million*million) rather than the short scale (billion=million*1000) is one of those things were the world is divided into two blocks.. (with Continental Europe being in one, the English-speaking world being in the other [the UK switched to the short scale, probably because of US influence]. Another field would be the decimal separator (comma in Cont. Europe and many other countries, Point in English-sp. world and other symbols in other places..)

  7. gurluz Says:

  10. dd8630 Says:

    Well, the ‘UK …
Well, the ‘UK billion’ isn’t used in the UK, or anywhere else in the world I’m aware of.

Though Sorenzo says it’s used in Denmark. Clearly he lies.

  11. yuothineyesasian Says:

    He sounds like …
    He sounds like agent smith

  12. Sorenzo Says:

    We have the “UK …
We have the “UK billion” in Denmark too. - A thousand million is called a millard, and a thousand of those are called a billion. But we also have silly things like the metric system. Why? Because it makes sense! :D

    In any case… it’s 4.1*3, not 4*3. Don’t forget, 300 million is 30% of a billion, after all. And 2.5% of 12 billion.
Anyway. I have one question. Is the moon going to stop moving away from us? If so, how can we appease the Moon God? :o

  13. BrianTheGoldfish Says:

    Actually, if we …
Actually, if we ume that Mr. Creationist is using the “UK billion” (a million million) rather than the US billion (a thousand million), then his first calculation was technically correct.

Of course, it was also wrong since the age of the earth is measured in terms of the US billion, and since there is very little in the way of sound knowledge and reasoning in the rest of the video, but still.

But their calculations are way, way, wayyyyyyyyyy off.

  18. dagnytaggartny Says:

    True, but it looks …
True, but it looks like the North Pole based on the blobby continents… well, the north has much more landm than the south, and there’s no Antarctica. So yes, you are right that the direction is correct if it’s taken from the South Pole, but the badly drawn Earth appears to be on the North Pole.

  19. dagnytaggartny Says:

    Oh my gosh, where …
Oh my gosh, where can I get the awesome tides simulation? That would be great for our astronomy cl es!
