Part of a series of videos exposing the funny stupidity of creationists and why they deserve to be laughed at. In each case the creationist statements are shown to be outrageously stupid by even the most rudimentary knowledge of science.
In this episode Ben Stein is again taken to task over his mindless spin doctoring (not dissimilar to his ‘universities are fortresses of nonsense’ line), most annoyingly his statement that ’science leads to killing people’. What I find most disturbing is that the Christian audience and host were seemly un-phased by this opinion. Have they no sense of perspective?
Add this to steins scaremongering/warmongering where he is arguing that the US military which constitutes about 50% of the military spending of the world is grossly inadequate and ‘worn down to the nub’.

Your two arguments …
Your two arguments are “it looks designed so there must have been a designer” and “irreducible complexity”.
Neither of those well-worn arguments hold water. First, we’re horribly designed. Our backs suck, our eyes are put together backwards, we can’t create vitamin C like every other mammal (except hamsters), and on and on. What “perfect” designer would leave those flaws in place?
For IC, please read Darwin and Dawkins, not just an ID critique of them. Both cover the eye and IC extensively.

creationist …
creationist interviewers. His late evolutionary “advesary” Stephen J. Gould agreed and never willingly allowed himself to be interviewed by creationists. Considering the ID movement is run by lawyers rather than scientists it’s not too hard to imagine why their tactics focus on rhetoric and manipulation rather than evidence: it’s in their job description. The most recent example is the Kitzmiller vs. Dover school board case, where one defendent commited clear perjury.

IF the scientists …
IF the scientists interviewed had known Expelled was a creationist propoganda film, they would never have agreed to be interviewed, simply because creationists are infamous for twisting evidence, lying, guile etc. I’m sure any creationists here have seen the video of Richard Dawkins’ appearing to stumble answering a question in a 1997 inerview….no such thing happened, it was edited to make it appear that way, and from then on Richard has tried his best to steer clear of…[cont.]

They were tricked? …
They were tricked? So if they thought ID was being given a chance, they wouldn’t have even tried to defend their theory?
Or is it that if they knew what the movie was really about they wouldn’t have sounded like morons?

They are more appealing. Much more so. Well maybe not the feminists…

okay by this …
okay by this judgement stein is a dumb but that doesnt prove anything i want to know what this GUY thinks about creationism…duhh science doesnt kill people humans kill people not science humans make science …. so basically what im saying what the is this video talking about

It’s so hard to …
It’s so hard to believe that Stein would say something like “Science leads to killing people.” Even tard Kent isn’t stupid enough to say something like that (he claims to love science). I’m really disillusioned by this guy since his good old trivia show days.
“Big turd, big turd.”

4dapunx : “enjoy your stuff there thunderfoot, but please don’t knock anarchy as chaos (a common incorrect definition)”
Have you ever worked in an organization where nobody had any authority? Such an environment is indistinguishable from chaos.

Also, the Greeks …
Also, the Greeks were said to live well into their 80’s, so I guess they could have time to p on their genes too… Do you think humanity has always been so primitives? The Japanese and Chinese did live longer than their current generation (when not at war)!
As for smoking, it has taken a long time, before health studies could be made publicly available before saying it was bad for health… IN this case, corporate greeds as censored sciences! Its still the case even today!

Food, OGM, …
Food, OGM, pollutions, are all things that come from our “mastery” of scientific knowledges, even though we never anticipate their long term impacts on the population… Watch and see the next cellphone hecatomb in the next 10 years!! This is ALL due to our diligent and helpful sciences marketed too fast for opportunists profiteers. Sciences should be developed with a better check and balance system for long term impacts on human society!

I can demonstrate …
I can demonstrate you have an absolute ignorance of it or are deceptive as Darwin inferred the idea of Natural Selection from the selective breeding habits of humans on animals.
Eugenics has more in line with agriculture.
“Angel of the Lord, what are these tortured screams?”
And the angel said unto me,
“These are the cries of the carrots, the cries of the carrots. You see, Reverend Maynard, tomorrow is harvest day and to them it is the holocaust.”

You are aware …
You are aware Expelled was one long string of quotes taken out of context, right? Hence why all the scientists involved have (correctly) claimed they were tricked into giving statements which were then edited - the fact they were first approached for a movie “Crossroads: the intersection between science and religion” EVEN THOUGH at this point the domain name for Expelled had already been purchased is evidence enough of the depths they willing to sink too to get scientists to fit their agendas.

Eugenics is …
Eugenics is incompatible with Evolution and Natural Selection, as Eugenics fails to consider the population, environmental effects concerning resources, disease, habitats, adaptability of the organism, and climate, and in Evolutionary Theory with an organism as complex as we are a vast population is more desirable as we have minimal adaptability. Removing significant portions of that population is more harmful than the insane inferior genetics which Hitler perceived.
Eugenics is not Evolution.

Creationism doesn’t …
Creationism doesn’t equal ID? I’d suggest you google the phrase “cdesign proponentsists”, or the “Wedge do ent”, or, if they’re all too obscure, watch the do entary Judgement Day: Intelligent Design on Trial on youtube (also in my favourites).
Professor Dawkins’ statement on aliens as possible intelligent designers was taken wildly out of context. Even a cursory perusal of anything concerning Dawkins’ ideas on life’s origins will show this isn’t what he thinks at all.
November 30th, 1999 at 12:00 am
“Creationism does’t …
“Creationism does’t equal ID.”
yes it does. Basic math, if A = X and B = X then A = B.
“ID proposes that some intelligent designer worked through evolution to create man”
no it doesn’t. He has the same definition as Creationism.
“That designer could be God, or as Dr Dawkins (one of those defeinding Darwinism in the movie!) says, intelligent aliens”
Intelligent aliens? Have you ever actually read or listened to anything by Dawkins?
November 30th, 1999 at 12:00 am
“I am not …
“I am not creationism (far from it), but because of science, the ratio of peoples that will suffer of a cancer in 2020 will be 1/2, while it was 1/5th in 1970’s.”
Because of science? Or because of smoking, air pollution, the fact that people with cancer are living long enough to p on their genes or ect.
November 30th, 1999 at 12:00 am
I am not …
I am not creationism (far from it), but because of science, the ratio of peoples that will suffer of a cancer in 2020 will be 1/2, while it was 1/5th in 1970’s… Thats bad science to me if you ask!
November 30th, 1999 at 12:00 am
Can you stop …
Can you stop domaning yourself? Creationism does’t equal ID. Creationism states that the Earth was created in 7 days about 4500 years ago. This is absurd. ID proposes that some intelligent designer worked through evolution to create man (hence the name).
That designer could be God, or as Dr Dawkins (one of those defeinding Darwinism in the movie!) says, intelligent aliens (and our science is the crazy one, right?).
